Vancouver, British Columbia

Photos by Walt & Gloria Fogler-Mancini

Vancouver, British Columbia, occupies one of the most beautiful settings in the world on a peninsula in the Strait of Georgia.  It is Canada’s third largest city and has a remarkable cultural and social diversity.  Its harbor and waterfront are quite busy.  Canada Place, a convention center and cruise ship terminal, is architecturally notable.

Vancouver is known for its skyscrapers, historic districts and lively street life.  It has two of Canada’s best museums, as well as many remarkable restaurants.

Just north of the city, across the Burrard Inlet, is Lighthouse Park.  The forested land was set aside in 1881 to serve as a dark backdrop for the lighthouse on Point Atkinson.  Some buildings from the World War II are still in use as park facilities.  The window is in the current ladies’ restroom.

The photographs were taken with Leica digital cameras, an M8 and the R9 with a digital back.  All images are copyrighted and may not be reproduced without permission.  If you are interested in information about images or prints, please e-mail us at fogler.mancini@sbcglobal.net.
